Position: HMP/127 – Contracts Engineer (Mechanical),
Facilities Management Group
Location: London
Role: Working within the Facilities Management Group, the
role is similar to that carried out as an Intermediate/Senior
Mechanical Engineer, i.e. applicants should have at least
10 years relevant mechanical design experience, to include
city type commercial developments (new build; refurbishment
and fit-out). The applicant should also be familiar with medium
to large scale commercial projects, particularly in the City
Of London and be capable of running projects and interfacing
with Project Teams, Clients etc.
Experience in other market sectors would be an advantage,
e.g. residential and education.
In addition the applicant will be required to work on smaller
more fragmented projects from initial survey to completion
and handover. These types of work require good practical problem-solving
skills, a “can do” approach, good organisational skills, excellent
client-interfacing skills and perseverance.
Duties will include:
v Site survey
v Design
v Preparation of Specifications (performance and full duties)
v Feasibility studies
v Condition surveys and reports
v Pre-acquisition surveys and reports
v Project management
v Site supervision
v Liaison with Planning and Building Control
v Contract Administration (JCT Minor Works and Intermediate
Forms of
Contract)
v Witnessing Commissioning
v O & M and Record Drawings review
Qualifications: Minimum HNC/Higher BTech Building Services
Engineering – HND/Chartered status preferred.
Experience: The applicant will have at least 5 years experience
of controlling M & E and associated works on site in terms
of programming and quality control. Will understand statutory
requirements applicable to M & E associated systems and
have a good understanding of all types of construction contracts.
